Analysis of Electric and Gas Airsoft Guns

by admin on April 3, 2010

Airsoft guns can be divided into many subcategories based on different features, or by the way they are powered.  When dealing with the latter form of categorization, there are three types of airsoft guns: Spring, electric, and gas-powered.  Most intermediate players are concerned about how fast their airsoft guns are, and how easily they operate.  Spring airsoft guns are usually considered to be unappealing, because you have to cock it before each shot.  With the other types of airsoft guns, the operations are fully automatic, and you can achieve firing rates hundreds of times greater than what you can get with a springer.  Therefore, for all intensive purposes, both electric and gas airsoft guns are worth being seriously analyzed and compared.

Electric airsoft rifles and guns, the best of which are known as AEGs, are the most versatile of all.  This is because they are very easy to set up and use.  All you need is the product, a battery, and some pellets.  Nearly all airsoft batteries are rechargeable, and thus last a long time.  In addition, the highest quality electric guns can achieve projectile speeds up to three-hundred fifty feet per second, and almost a thousand rounds per minute, even in smaller airsoft pistols.  However, cheaper electric guns often are dramatically slower, some as low as one-hundred eighty feet per second.  As long as you have the money to spend for a quality gun, you can do very well with this type of airsoft product.

Although electricity is strong, there is nothing that can beat compressed gases.  Gas airsoft guns can break five hundred feet per second, and are also more accurate.  If this is the case, why wouldn’t everyone get this type of airsoft gun?  The reason is because gas is more unwieldy to use than rechargeable batteries, and since you cannot “recharge” gas canisters, you need to continually buy more.  Some people do not like the idea of this.  Finally, gas rifles are often even more initially expensive than AEGs, so the costs start high and keep rising.
