Probiotics, also commonly called “friendly bacteria”, are tiny living organisms that benefit the other larger organisms they inhabit, such as our human bodies as well as those of our pets. They are often found in foods we eat such as yogurt. Probiotics were first found to be beneficial to our intestinal tracts by stopping the spread of infectious agents such as germs and other biological agents that cause diseases. New uses for probiotics have emerged and other health benefits have been found including the riddance of chronic intestinal inflammatory diseases, the prevention and remedy of bacteria that cause diarrhea, the use of probiotics for urinary tract infections, and more.

Using probiotics for your dog’s intestinal tract will keep your dog healthy and vigorous by keeping your pet’s defense system strong and able to withstand illnesses and diseases. When probiotics are at good levels in the digestive system, our pets are able to properly absorb the nutrients and vitamins needed to maintain a healthy body. The beneficial effects of using friendly bacteria in your pet’s diet can be seen as giving your dog the tools necessary to fight the growth of harmful bacteria and this is why adding probiotic supplements to your dog’s diet can be a key step in improving and maintaining the health of your pet. The immune systems of our pets do a wonderful job of regulating the normal balances needed to maintain their lives and preventing declines in their health (though they are exposed to so much bacteria), but there are many forms of bacteria that get into them that can cause many issues, and that is when probiotics perform at their best. Dogs will oftentimes ingest things that can be harmful to them and begin to degrade their health, but the friendly bacteria in probiotics are able to disarm and destroy bacteria that can commonly cause illnesses in your pet such as diarrhea.

One of the most user recommended, best probiotics for dogs is Vetri-Probiotic Everyday for Dogs. This super probiotic supplement is highly recommended to support the intestinal tract functions of your pet. There have been reports where dogs upwards in age of 13+ years have been cured of life debilitating diseases, bumps on their skin, hair and coat issues, and more. As we know, most dogs are very sensitive when it comes to taking medication. One sniff of the medicine and they run for their dear life. There are those that have wonderful testimonies though that even tell of the wonderful taste of Vetri-Probiotic Everyday for Dogs.

The bottom line is that probiotic supplements are a great, non-medical way to restore health and vitality to pets that may have been suffering for years from problems within their intestines. If your pet is in great shape, then probiotics may be used as a preventative treatment, but if your dog is getting old in years or is showing signs of fatigue, then trying probiotics might be a great way to bring your dog’s health back up to a new and energized level.

When our Labrador Retriever puppy reached 11 months, I was amazed at how often he was rubbing his head on my leg. At first I thought he was showing affection, which is typical of labs. However, it didn’t make sense when I started noticing him rubbing his head on table legs as well. Something told me he didn’t like table legs that much.

When it came time for his next vet checkup, I mentioned to the vet that he was losing some of the hair around his eyes. The vet had him lay down and checked his belly. We found a lot of small red areas where he had been scratching that were inflamed. The vet also checked his paws and found areas where he was chewing.

The vet gave him an antihistamine to help rule out whether it was a seasonal allergy. He said for me to give it to him for a week and then bring him back to the office so the vet could see how he was doing. Within a few days the symptoms were gone, but unfortunately they returned once the antihistamine stopped.

A friend recommended a woman who owns a specialty pet food store in the next town. She said she was very knowledgeable of different types of dog allergies and might be able to help us resolve the issue. We decided that even though it was a bit of a hike, we would make the trip to see what this person had to say.

We took the dog with us so she would have a chance to see him and we could show her the symptoms. One of her first questions was, “What food are you feeding him?”. We told her it was Chicken Soup Dog Food and she said that she liked the food but that he might be allergic to some of the grains in it. She said a lot of the symptoms he was having were typical of a dog food allergy. She recommended we try a grain free allergy dog food with a different type of protein and carbohydrate to see if that resolved the issue. Even though it wasn’t cheap, we went ahead and bought the food and made the investment in the animal that we love so much.

Our dog ate the new food for six weeks. When we returned to the vet, he noticed a difference and so did we. The red spots on our dog’s chest were gone and he seemed to be scratching a lot less. Over the course of 12 weeks, I could tell that the hair around his eyes was starting to grow back as well as on his muzzle. We knew it would take a while for his coat to return to normal, but this was definitely a positive sign.

I believe Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover’s Soul to be a very good food and used it for around a year. I have also read many positive reviews from happy dog owners. It’s unfortunate that my dogs happen have grain allergies and therefore cannot eat it.

There are numerous heartworm meds available but revolution is becoming more popular on a daily basis. This is because it is one of the few combination meds that does so much more than simply protect our pets from Heartworms.

Revolution for Dogs without prescription is currently available from a number of resources and being able to buy cheap revolution for Dogs means that we can totally protect our pets for a very low cost. So what exactly does it do and why is it so popular?

The fact is that it is one of the mildest pet meds on the market when it comes to pet protection. It is primarily known as a flea treatment. Applied monthly it ensures that our animals stay totally free from this pest. But it will also protect from ear mites and sarcoptic mange making it a very comprehensive treatment indeed.

And of course it prevents hearworms from ever developing which makes it about the cheapest possible way to combine all of these treatments in one easy to apply way. We simply apply directly to the skin on a monthly basis to ensure that we have a healthy and safe Dog.

This is by far the best possible way to ensure nine of these common problems ever become an issue for our pets. We can then feel totally secure that they can never be infected with fleas or develop the very serious heartworm condition if they are left untreated. Just be sure that you remember to use it on a monthly basis to totally protect your pet, and if you have not previously given a heartworm medicine for more than three months then you should always get a test done at the vets to ensure it is totally safe to use a heartworm medication such as revolution for Dogs.

Feeding a great dane can always be an interesting experience. If you don’t do any other training it is a good idea to make sure that your great dane is properly trained to not plow you down during feeding time. I have one particular blue great dane that resembles a freight train when he knows that dinner is being served. Having a feeding routine down can save you many bumps and bruises down the road.

 Amazon.com Widgets

A good feeding routine for great danes but any giant dog should also consist of an upright dog feeder. Upright dog feeder allow nature to more properly take its course and for gravity to work for the animal and not against it. Leaning down to eat can cause digestive problems as well as stress on the back and other joints for older dogs.

If you consider how important proper posture is for us why would you think that your dog is any different. I am not going to make any claims that an upright feeder will prevent gastric torsion in great danes but I do know that many people are of this opinion. And, considering that I want to keep my dogs around for as long as possible I am willing to do things that will possibly prolong their lives and improve their health.

Upright dog feeders not only put your dog in the proper posture for eating but they also give you a good place to feed your dog. I cannot tell you how many times in the past I have kicked a water bowl that was sitting on the floor. The bottom line is that dog bowls that are relegated to the floor tend to be a mess. An upright dog bowl can make your feeding area look a whole lot more put together.

Dog feeders will also usually come with some additional storage for dog food and other dog related goodies. If your house is anything like mine any extra storage I an get is a good deal.

If you are concerned about gastric torsion there are different things that you can do to make sure that your dog remains healthy and an upright feeder could possibly help out in this area. Having a regular feeding routine and not over feeding is also one of the most important aspects of maintaining good health in your great dane.
