Choosing a Garden Tool Rack

by admin on May 22, 2010

Is your garden shed in a mess with all your tools jumbled up in the corner or on the floor? Perhaps you should consider buying a garden tool rack to store your tools and protect them from damage. Tool racks are reasonably priced and can be bought either as floor standing or wall hanging models. Floor standing units are easier to set up as they won’t need any installation but wall hanging racks will take up less space and fold out of the way when not in use.

One thing to look out for is to choose a good quality rack that will last. All-plastic racks tend to last a year or two but tool racks with a metal core will last much longer and are not much more expensive. We’ll look at two popular racks on sale. a floor standing model and a wall hanging model to see what features they have and if they are good value for money.

The Tool Rack with Wheels by Suncast retails for around $60 and is made with a steel core so will last for many years. Not the cheapest rack you could buy but it will last much longer than many cheaper ones, It is roomy, with space for more than 30 tools, including large ones such as lawn trimmers and blowers. Although it has a large capacity it is only 42″ wide and 20″ deep so will fit into a garden shed reasonably easily.  The fitted wheels allow it to be easily moved around and it will keep all your tools in good condition and within easy reach.

The hanging garden tool rack by Racor is smaller with capacity for three garden tools plus a small basket for smaller tools and accessories. It has a steel core so is tough and durable and is easy to mount on the wall using the Rubbermaid FastTrack system. It will lay flat against the wall when you are not using it. At around $25 is is reasonably cheap but doesn’t hold many tools.

These are just two of the garden tool racks available that show some of the features are available. Choose one that is right for you and will hold all your tools.
