Knife collecting is something I am very passionate about, and I started collecting knives when I was just a young teenager. If our looking to become a knife collector you need to know a few things first off.
The first thing I would like to talk about is what do you want your collection to look like? I know for me when I first started I really did not care much of the make or brand; I just enjoyed getting new knives. When I decided to get serious about my collection I began to do a little research on the key points of buying a knife. One area I focused on what the material that went into making the knife. ATS-32 steel is something I defiantly look for now when I am making a purchase. You want to know the quality of the steel for longevity, and also how it will hold up to multiple sharpening. With today’s technology and how advance new materials are, you defiantly can get a quality product that will stand up to the test of time.
The other thing you truly need to think about is what type of knife you like. There are so many types out there like, butterfly knives, bowie knives, throwing knives, hunting knives, and the list goes on and on. I have all makes and types at this point in my collection, but over the past few years I have really focused all my time and resources in buying up a lot of different types of butterfly knives, and have truly enjoyed learning the history behind the Bailsong also known as the butterfly knife. Collecting knives is and will always be a thrill for me, and my hope is one day to get my son into the same thing as well but I have my work cut out at this point in time.
