Trying to buy cupcake stands locally is a pain in the butt. Instead, shop for them online! Local stores will either not have any, or only one or two to choose from. That is the way it is with many more obscure items for a wedding or anything else. The brick and morter stores don’t want to waste shelf space for something like a large selection of cupcake stands, but the online shops will have a huge variety to select from. And there are hundreds of different sizes and designs that you can browse through online, at much lower prices. You’ll have to pay for shipping, but it will probably still be less than what you would have paid if you were able to find it in your town.
Renting a cupcake stand is also an option, but it will usually cost as much as buying one. Cupcake stands are pretty cheap to buy, but if your linen company or bakery is offering it as a part of your package you may be able to save some cash. Most people do get a few extra uses out of a cupcake stand later on, or at least make a few bucks on it when they sell it in a yard sale!
Decorating your cupcake stand is the fun part of this process. Most people will cut fabric that matches the rest of the wedding’s colors and drape it over the tiers of the stand. Ribbon will usually garnish the edges, and flowers mixed in with the cupcakes. This way of decorating consistently looks fantastic, but if you want to do something else that is totally acceptable as well.
