Glass wedding centerpieces have the elegant and timeless look and feel of being expensive, even when they aren’t. Glass decorations are all around us and for sale everywhere you look, so there is no shortage of glass containers for your wedding tables. Consider how you can use glass or crystal bowls, plates, vases, cups, fish bowls, cookie jars, etc. The list is endless. Now all you have to do is come up with some original ideas that guests will ‘ooh and aah’ over.
Candles are clearly the frontrunner when it comes to adding drama to an evening wedding reception. Small tea candles can be floated in a shallow bit of water sitting in a clear glass dish or cup. By grouping several glass dishes and candles together, you can increase the candlelight at the table so that it becomes a focal point. Even better, put all of the glass dishes with candles in them and place everything on an oval mirror that fits your arrangement. The candlelight will bounce off of the mirror and really light up the table.
One charming idea that made for a lovely table centerpiece and a gesture that guests loved, was at a wedding during the Christmas holidays. Each table had a simple, crystal cornucopia set in the middle of the table with fresh fruit abundantly overflowing it. Guests were free to take their pick of pears, apples, oranges, grapes. Then at each place setting was a small candle in a glass holder. Everyone eagerly awaited the announcement that the candles would be lit. The house lights were turned down, and waiters went around lighting one candle at each table. From that one candle, guests at each table lit each of their candles. Little by little the tables and the entire room lit up with candlelight. It was a beautiful ceremony that involved everyone, and you should have heard the ‘oohs and aahs’… The bride at this wedding decided to avoid traditional glass wedding centerpieces and instead used items that created a unique experience for her guests.
