Refurbished Notebooks – What You Should Know About Them

There is a certain stigma related to refurbished notebook computers. Many people have a bad opinion about them and have the impression that they’re junk. But that’s not true, you can find plenty of good refurbished laptops out there and a lot of big companies have their own programs of refurbishing laptops.

But you’re probably wondering, what is a refurbished notebook. Basically they are notebooks that have been used before or have not been sold for whatever reason and the store owner wants to get rid of them. So in order to do that, they cut the price a little. First we have laptops that have been returned to Dell, put through the production process, and then again retested to ensure they meet all original factory specifications (may have some damage to the case but they’re just cosmetic).

Then we have laptops that were shipped out to a customer who opened the box, but decided to send the system back without ever turning it on. All of these computers have been tested and repackaged by the Dell Outlet. These types of systems do not have any cosmetic damages.

And the last types of refurbished laptops are the scratch and dent ones. These are laptops with considerable cosmetic blemishes that do not affect performance. Scratch and dent computers will not have scratches or any other marks on the screen, missing letters on the keyboard, or damage to the touchpad or palmrest. These PCs have also undergone a rebuilding and testing process.

So always be wary of really cheap refurbished laptops. Especially if you’re buying from a shop and not a real laptop company. You wouldn’t want to buy something that simply doesn’t work or won’t last long. There are plenty of serious companies out there that have refurbished laptops for sale and you can rest assured that they will work, some of them even have a warranty.

Unless you’re really concerned about the aesthetic of your laptop and don’t mind a few scratches here and there, you should take a look at all the refurbished notebook computer that are out there. You might have to browse a little given that there are hundreds of models to choose from out there, but you’ll surely find something that matches your exact needs.
