Temporary Paper Blinds

by admin on April 20, 2010

We all love to have some kind of window coverings. For some reason it gives us a sense of security to be able to keep prying eyes from peeking inside our windows, specially at night. Another reason we need to cover our windows is to keep the harmful sun rays away from our expensive furniture and carpets. So most of us have curtains or blinds in our homes. Sometimes though when we first move into a house or an apartment the windows are bare and it might take a while (sometimes months) before we will be ready to install permanent window treatment.

Fortunately today we can buy temporary paper blinds.

As the name implies these are not intended to last for ever, but I have known people who kept theirs for several years without any ill effects. They are made of paper, but that does not mean that they look tacky. In fact you can find some very attractive paper blinds in different colors.

Some of the advantages of these blinds are:

  • They can be very attractive.
  • Installation is a breeze and does not require any tools, some can be installed with a strong sticky tape (usually provided). The tape will not damage the frame.
  • If your blinds don’t fit your window exactly, no problem, you can cut them to size with regular scissors.
  • If you feel creative and would like to add motifs to your shades that can be done with a few markers and some artistic talent.
  • Finally the cost is unbeatable, specially when compared to the high cost of good curtains.

While you might not want to always use temporary paper blinds you will find them extremely useful and convenient when you first move into a new home. Another application for these window coverings is for children’s rooms. Children grow so fast that changing decor is a frequent activity, keeping the cost of blinds down would be a good thing. Another group of people who might find good use of temporary blinds are college students who will be in an apartment a few years then will move on. Inexpensive, good looking and functional, you can’t go wrong, so if you need a window solution check temporary blinds out.
