The Coffee Pod Maker: Delicious Coffee in No Time Flat

by admin on April 9, 2010

We truly live in a world that values doing things as quickly and efficiently as possible.  For better or for worse, long gone are the days where careful consideration of every task was the norm.  With these changing values, we want to do things in a fraction of the time.  The trick, then, is to retain as much quality as possible while doing so, because sacrificing enjoyment is never a good compromise to make for speeding things up!

Enter the coffee pod maker, the embodiment of having your cake and eating it, too.  Able to make hot coffee in roughly a minute, coffee pod machines have cut coffee preparation time down to a tiny fraction of what it used to be.  The normal assumption to make here is that they must have made countless sacrifices in quality of the final product in order to cut the time down this much.  Surprisingly, this is not true much of the time.  Interestingly enough, the real determinant of the quality of the final product is not the machine, itself, but rather the coffee pods that you choose to brew.

There are countless companies competing in the single serving coffee market, and you’d be right in assuming that the taste varies quite a bit, all the way from overwhelmingly sweet to subtle and bold roasts.  The taste really comes down to how well the individual companies understand the very different process of coffee pod brewing as contrasted with traditional drip coffee makers.  So many people make the mistake of assuming that the problem is with the makers themselves, so I hope I’ve brought a bit of balance to that debate.

My best advice is to shop around among the most reputable brands of coffee pod brewers.  Keurig and Senseo are probably the best places to start, especially since they are in the market for both the brewers and the coffees themselves.  For more information, feel free to stop by Coffee Pod Central!
